Well, today was the last show of NHL Live! for the season. It’s on hiatus until September 15. Bummer. Today, as a final gesture, Gary Bettman (NHL Commissioner) was on bidding the show farewell. That was way too cool.
The show also had Eddie Olcyzk (aka “Eddie O”) on today. He has done a weekly spot on Fridays, but was on today as a final seasonal gesture for NHL Live!. He is just such a wealth of knowledge about hockey and is so much fun to listen to. Plus, his passion for the sport is great. It’s always fun to hear how encouraging he is about Don LaGreca’s weight loss (which, by the way, is 30 pounds as of this writing!).
Well, my beloved Red Wings acquired right wing Marian Hossa for a year. Cool! I’m curious to see how he’s worked into the lineup. Ken Holland, General Manager, just rocks. Of course, I’m sure he didn’t do it all alone. He’s got Scotty Bowman, Steve Yzerman, and the owner Mike Ilitch - all working together to make such a winning team. Did you know that Mike Ilitch is the founder of Little Caesar’s Pizza? Yep…”Pizza Pizza”.
Sean Avery went to the Dallas Stars. It’ll be fun to watch him and the Stars in the upcoming season. Sometimes that guy needs a good slap (or body check) , in my opinion.
Too many other signings to mention here. That’s another reason why I think NHL Live! needs to be on for another week. E.J. Hradek and Don LaGreca provide us with the scoop like no one else can.
See you in September, guys. Life just won’t be the same.
Boohoo….
