Speaking of the NBC announcers….I wish they would shut up. For the first minutes of the game Eddie O (who I love to listen to on NHL Live! and during INTERMISSIONS) and Pierre McGuire carried on a conversation so that there was no play-by-play announcing being done.

The Detroit Red Wings beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-2, in today’s opening game of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs Western Conference Finals. It was a great game to watch. The game was broadcast on NBC, with Doc Emrick as the play-by-play announcer. Color commentary was provided by Eddie Olyczk and Pierre McGuire.
