The New Hockey Night in Canada theme

Prior to ending their last season, EJ Hradek and Don LaGreca of the NHL Network’s NHL Live! show, told us that the Hockey Night in Canada theme would probably be changed. I, along with other hockey fans, didn’t want to hear that. I was only hoping that nothing would happen. Well…

While watching Hockey Night in Canada last Saturday, I heard the new theme. And, I don’t like it. Or, maybe I just need to get used to it.

The old Hockey Night in Canada theme brings back such wonderful memories. Plus, it was just such a great tune! It had a good beat, easy to hum along with (and remember) melody, and was – overall – the kind of song that would stay with you.

This new song only has tidbit sound bites of the old one and seems very fragmented. 😦

Bah humbug to the new Hockey Night in Canada theme song. 😦 x 100   (frowning multiplied by 100)

Or, as is known in the sports world….BOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HISSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

  1. While I, too was at first devastated to hear that the Hockey Night in Canada Anthem was going to be replaced, I’ve got to say that I really like the new one. I think it’s got depth – I like the sort of celtic sounding beginning and the way the drumming gets your heartbeat going. It does have a lot of change-ups, but that makes it exciting – just like hockey!

  2. Thanks for your comment, mooiedragon! You very eloquently stated your case. 🙂

It just goes to show that everyone has their own opinion, and “to each, their own”. 🙂

At heart, you could say I’m a traditionalist. 🙂
