Sean Avery gave an apology today for his inappropriate comment. Does that make it better? No. Everyone was expecting an apology, so – of course, he gave one. In my opinion, it’s futile.
This incident is just one of many found throughout this guy’s hockey career. No matter where he goes lately, he causes havoc. He is totally self-absorbed and has to be the center of attention wherever he goes. He disrupts teams. He speaks negatively and insultingly about others. He is not a team player. He is probably the reason the Dallas Stars are having such a difficult time lately. It is obvious from his teammates’ comments that they do not like having him around.
I feel for Brett Hull, who according to NHL Live!, went out on the limb in signing Avery to a multi-year contract with the Dallas Stars. It just goes to show how confident Hull can be in someone’s potential. I have read others’ writings putting both Hull and Avery in the same class. They are not in the same class at all. Hull is a class act. He is a team player. Avery is not either of these – in the least. He is a disgrace to the NHL and to any team he has been playing for (notice I didn’t say ‘with’?) lately.
I love the sport of hockey and have been watching and hearing Sean Avery’s antics for far too long. Get rid of him.
Let him model for Vogue and ‘act’ for a living.
