Healthy Eating Speeds the TKR Recuperation Process

It’s common knowledge that eating healthy can help everyone. However, this is doubly important during the recuperation process. Having a total knee replacement surgery is hard enough and we need as much help as we can get to make the process easier. Good nutrition is vital for a proper recuperation.

So…here are some suggestions for quick, healthy eating that can be prepared at home:

Mix some fresh herbs with freshly squeezed juice for a low calorie dressing.

Spread some natural peanut butter on an apple.

A sandwich of tuna and mustard on wholegrain bread. Add lettuce & tomato, if desired.

Fresh fruit mixed with plain yogurt.

Spread some hummus on either pita bread, fresh veggies, or an English muffin.

For creamed soup, substitute pureed tofu for heavy cream.

All of these have worked well for me, and I am confident they’d work well for others. Enjoy!

    i love this ccomment. how true. you truly are what you eat. we have to feed our bodies well. especially during a recovery period. i have learned that when i became not as active over the last few years due to my knee surgeries. and my age 49, which changes your weight management. thank you for some new ideas to try. my favorites are the apples and pb and i live on hummus. brushetta on triscuits are great too. keep us posted on any new favorites. take care.
